Staying Aligned in the New Year

New Year’s reflections - I am a huge fan. As 2018 comes to an end, I have spent some time reflecting on the great times, the I-could-have-done-without-that-but-thanks experiences, the straight up ugly crying moments, and all of the beautiful lessons learned along the way.  Charles Dickens summed up this year so eloquently -- “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” I think it is safe to say that 2018 had a lot of ups and downs for all of us, but we made it.

The optimist in me is choosing to acknowledge that while 2018 was a toughie, there was a LOT of good that came from 2018. New adventures, new connections, new inspiration, a lot of growth, and some great shifts and changes that I will definitely be bringing with me into the New Year. I am excited for 2019, and I have no doubt it is going to be great.

This past year, I spent a lot of time and focus on mental and physical health. Mental health - learning and growing spiritually - attending yoga class, reading a ton of Gabby Bernstein & Eckhart Tolle, and incorporating meditation into my daily routine.  These practices really strengthened my mental health, gave me confidence to give up (the majority of) my fear, worries, and anxieties to the Universe, and focus on living each day with joy. I was sitting on a plane today reading The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein, when my seatmate said “People don’t usually read books like that unless they’re searching for something.” I laughed out loud, as I am always searching.  Searching for ways to better myself. Searching for ways to grow spiritually. Searching for adventure. Searching for ways to feel as good as possible so that I may live a long, happy and healthy life.  I will continue searching in 2019, and I am REALLY looking forward to what I find and who I meet along the way.


In regards to my physical health, I spent a large part of 2018 searching for relief from cystic acne which I eventually found in acupuncture.  Acupuncture has been a game-changer for me this year on both a mental and physical level, and is a resource that will definitely be accompanying me into the New Year.  For the past six months or so, I have worked with Dr. Stephanie Madden at Aligned Modern Health to uncover and find relief from many different ailments -- she is incredible, as is Chinese medicine. Not only has acupuncture helped me balance my hormones, but it is has helped me deal with anxiety, sleep insomnia, and other things that were holding me back. I am a huge proponent of the benefits of acupuncture and I recommend it to anyone seeking holistic healing. Adding acupuncture to my weekly routine in 2018 was huge and I am excited to continue working with Dr. Madden and AMH to get my body and mind right in the New Year. Ps.
