Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who are Jordan and Alex?
A: We are Alex & Jordan of ChiTourGuide, a fitness & wellness blog + instagram created by two Chicago girls looking to inspire other women to lead a balanced lifestyle. We show our real lives - the good, the bad, and the crazy - to inspire others to live their best life. We don’t shy away from indulgences [we love ice cream & wine], but lead more heavily towards the health & wellness space. We live life with a conscious balance.
Alex, a retail consultant by day, is busy gearing up for her New Years Eve wedding to her boyfriend [now fiance] of 8 years. When she's not at the gym or wedding planning, you can find her walking Roo, a red headed standard poodle, around the 606 and Bucktown neighborhood, studying for her nutrition certification or sitting enjoying coffee at Fairgrounds, 3 Greens Market and Real Good Stuff Co.
Jordan, a hospitality marketing professional by day, seconds as a yoga teacher at Corepower Yoga. When she's not at the studio, you can find her hanging out with a mini-Roo, adopted 14-lb poodle mix, Jake, strolling around Washington Square Park, or enjoying a bite to eat with good company!
Q: What was the inspiration behind ChiTourGuide?
A: Started by Alex in 2015, it began as a sole Chicago guide, what to do, see, eat and drink in the glorious city! When Jordan moved back from NYC, the two of them met at Fairgrounds in Bucktown to discuss a partnership. Jordan had a wellness blog in New York and Alex has always had a passion for health and wellness. Rather than co-promoting, they thought it would be the best to join forces, taking over ChiTourGuide promoting all health, wellness and real-life experiences in Chicago, or wherever they may visit.
We want to show people that being healthy isn't black and white, or cut and dry - you can indulge and live your everyday life no matter what point in your life you're at - we're real people, we've gone through hard times, and we want to relate to others, hear their stories while sharing ours.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: We don't think of CTG as a job. Each of us have our 9-5's but we get inspired when we're on CTG - we've created a huge community on instagram, and are growing everyday - not just in terms of numbers, but we ourselves are growing. We learn so much about us, and we push each other to be bigger, go bigger, and be our best selves.
We think, when we get to just touch one person's life, and inspire just one person, it's all worth it. It's not about number of followers or the brand we can work with. It's about building strong foundations and relationships.
Q: Take us through a day in the life!
A: Is that ever even possible? Alex is way more of a morning person - usually up at 5am to do a workout, or a yoga class. Let’s just say that Jordan definitely values her sleep a bit more. Before work, she’ll will take Jakey for a long 30-45 minute walk to wake up her body and give Jakey some love outdoors. After work, Jordan will get her workout on - typically attending a Corepower yoga class for either a Yoga Sculpt or C2, followed by dinner/drinks with friends. After work, Alex typically cooks dinner (most weeknights), something plant-based for herself, and a meat dish for Graham.
Q: What's your favorite way to stay active?
A: Luckily, we both love yoga - Corepower, Studio Three and The Space Between have some of our favorite instructors. We love a good sweat, and to leave a workout feeling good.
Alex also participates in the @LRGraceLifestyle program - where Laura creates 3 personalized workouts per week.
Jordan is starting Mary-Kate’s (@Froyotofitness) workout plan in the next coming weeks (3 workouts per week). Also, we can't deny, a long walk with our pups is the best type of exercise.
Q: What do you love most about YOUR #FitCityFamily (aka the health and wellness community in Chicago that you interact with!)
A: What's not to love? This outlet has connected us with the most amazing people. We got connected with @Stephdietz_, an amazing woman who is passionate about the wellness industry and a leader in Marketing at Sweetgreen. She connected us with the most amazing community in Chicago. I think what we love is the realness. These women (and men too) work so hard to live the lives they live, and are doing the most amazing things - hosting amazing events, and connected everyone to one another. Not only do we hope to inspire, but we get inspired by this community. We are truly lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people in our everyday healthy lives!
